INDUSTRY X.0 SENIOR MANAGER - 3DEXPERIENCE DIGITAL MANUFACTURING LEAD
August 2018 - June 2020 (1 year and 10 months)
ACCENTURE • France
  • Being promoted to senior manager I got the chance to expand my scope of responsibilities way beyond Airbus Commercial Aircraft, of course it was challenging at first but it was also a very rewarding experience.

I started my new journey as a road warrior, Traveling from Toulouse to Paris, from Toulouse to Munich, from Airbus Aerospace and Defence to Safran Aircraft Engines, to Safran Electonics and Defense, Safran Nacelles, Safran Transmission Systems, might actually be easier to list the Safran entities I did not visit.

I was involved on various pre-sales activities (for millions euros programs), solution definition and major business transformations (Airbus DDMS - Digital Design Manufacturing and Services - transformation and Safran Aircraft Engines Suites 2 and 3) as the subject matter expert, always keeping an entrepreneurial and innovative mindset.

Furthermore I'm in charge of the definition and elaboration of A&D business cases for the Toulouse Innovation Center relying on 3DExperience solutions (MBSE/RFLP, Industrial Simulation, AR/VR Immersive Training for harness installation using the creative experience, DELMIA/APRISO implementation, etc.). I manage the budgets, the ressources (pc, various devices and staff, our local and worlwide consultants as our AR/VR hungarian experts) and the relations with Dassault Systemes management/R&D, I report directly to Accenture leadership on those topics.

We also take advantage of our platinum partnership with Dassault Systemes to present our business use cases to our customers and partners as we did for the 3DExperience 2019x forum in Paris and the Paris Air Show 2019.

  • Airbus is drastically transforming its Manufacturing Engineering ecosystem and I have the chance to be part of this tremendous endeavor. I used to be strongly involved in DELMIA V5 projects and run mode activities on the architecture and management sides but I'm now solely focused on 3D Experience topics, working on the foundation of the future of Airbus Manufacturing Engineering backbone (A350, NIS, etc.).

I'm working closely with Airbus enterprise architects and product owners to refine the business needs and formalize it through epics and features, considering the extent of our scope this is quite a challenging activity. Fortunately my previous Michelin experience with Atlassian products (JIRA, CONFLUENCE) and AGILE methodologies (SAFe, SCRUM) helped me greatly in this endeavor.

OOTB (Out Of The Box) being Airbus motto for this transformation, a design authority (Airbus global architects, DS R&D architects) has been put in place that will assure the project compliance to various design rules enacted by this authority, rules that should prevent major costly reworks in the future. I'm the sole focal between the project and the design authority, making sure that everything we are implementing is compliant to those rules.

We have weekly steering and progress review meetings to report to Airbus management our project status, to be sure that we stay in line with their vision. We review budgets, blocking points, risks and mitigations, new opportunities.

Finally I would prepare technical presentations and join Accenture Senior Directors to the 3DEXPERIENCE steering committee (at least twice a month) to report to Airbus stakeholders the status on 3DEXPERIENCE projects and discuss future critical actions (workshops, high level demonstrations, audits, etc.).

  • The first challenge was to win the Airbus A350 Manufacturing Engineering vertical bundle, I went back and forth from Clermont-Ferrand to Toulouse to work and present Accenture proposal, I think our previous experiences with complex DELMIA integration made a strong impression to Airbus stakeholders and assured our success.

The two following years proved to be way more challenging than expected, deprecated technologies, heavy customizations, complex interfaces, even if we managed a few significant deliveries my principal objective was to keep DELMIA up and running, fix critical and recurrent issues, coordinating teams in Philippins, Canada and France.

For sure we allowed DELMIA to remain active until is targeted retirement mid/end 2019, not without struggling.

We faced a major bug in DELMIA V5 native product (object unique id unsigned integer limitation), we reworked the Bridge between VPM and DELMIA, we studied a DELMIA MHUB cleaning solution (through SQL) to bypass the DB CLEANER (DS native tool) failure in production (due to the volume of data). We modified the A350 data model to introduce new components to facilitate the exchange between DELMIA and SAP. We optimized the Real Time Interface (SOAP web services) between DELMIA and SAP. We enrich DELMIA BOM with non CAD information.

All this was possible thanks to a precise coordination between our developers in Montréal and Manilla (12 hours ahead of Montreal) and our functional and test team in Toulouse.

I also participated to EXALEAD ONEPART A350 ESDB project due to my previous experience with Michelin. I worked on the first two releases until the end of the knowledge transfer between DS and Accenture teams on DELMIA (six months). I helped defining EXALEAD index content, connectors, mashup. We were supposed to index Airbus Standard Parts, beginning with the A350.

  • In the context of its ambitious project DTSCA program (Technical Data for the Upstream Supply Chain), Michelin is seeking to improve the reactivity and flexibility of its Upstream SC through the deployment of a PLM solution. As a member of the AMOA team I support Michelin in all the phases of a PLM projects: Business Modeling, Requirements Definition, Analysis and Design, Implementation, Tests and finally deployment.

At first I was strongly involved in the data model definition and the end to end process flow representation (we used BPMN 2.0, GLIFFY and MEGA to formalize it).

Then I accompany the business leaders to meet with DS solution architects to study the best possible technical answers (DELMIA V6) to Michelin business need.

Finally I helped building the scrum teams (functional analysts, developers, testers, scrum masters) to implement it.

We used Atlassian suite to centralize all documents related to the project (business process confluence), the user stories and defects (JIRA), our test campaigns (Zephyr).

We had to build a complete interface with Michelin DDM (Material Definition Dossier) repository and with Michelin SC forecasting solution based on OM Partners solution.

Define and implement Michelin People and Organization concepts was a project on its own.

We deployed EXALEAD cloudview to index all PLM data authored but it wasn't performant enough at that time to be adopted by the plants.

The DTSCA Michelin data model and BOM are very unique as this is a transformation process, from a specified material to a manufactured item and not a regular assembly process as you can find in aerospace industries.

We imagined and developed quite interesting functionalities that were integrated to DELMIA V6 native product: https://www.3ds.com/fr/produits-et-services/delmia/produits/delmia-v6/portefeuille-v6/d/digital-manufacturing-and-production/s/supply-chain-planners/p/global-production-systems-planning/.

Supporting Toyota to define CATIA V5 improvement requests (PER)

Spreading PER to DS R&D «Product Manager ». Up to 70% of TMC BIT original enhancement requests (about 100) were addressed that year. Confirming that PES address clearly and completely Toyota requests described previously via the PER process. Creation of L1 scenarios. I've written those validation scenarios based on TMC requests for each new CATIA releases (R15, R16). Testing using alpha and beta versions. Validation of each new development with Toyota.

    TMC Department: Stamping -Die
TMC "Stamping Die" was not originally working on site with Dassault to manage their enhancements requests but was using intermediaries (IT, other departments) or for important matters was contacting directly DS France. Regarding the positive feedbacks of the other teams they decided to ask for a DS France representative on site. I was assuring the transition until DS France sent their official candidate.

Reviewing and preparing a synthesis of the existing requests. Prioritizing the enhancements. Initiating the communication with DS France R&D people.
TMC Department: Body, Chassis and Styling
Support ERD process managers and communicate with Dassault development teams. Implement prototypes and test new functionalities with TMC end users.

Supporting Toyota to write CATIA V5 improvement requests for all TMC departments (body, chassis, style etc.), about 500 demands when the project started. Writing DS new capability specifications corresponding to Toyota requests, I've written five to ten PES per CATIA release, from R10 to R14. Providing to Toyota new implementations prototypes.
One development was particularly noteworthy: providing a new command automating standard operations and significantly decreasing the bumper design time from several weeks to several hours.
